Students who attend classes in percussive dance and acrobatics will be given the opportunity to take examinations and medal tests for the Performing Dance Foundation. These examinations lay particular emphasis on presentation and performance and are designed to complement the ballet training, thereby resulting in a more versatile dancer. The acrobatic syllabus in particular was created to complement the ballet technique. Particular emphasis is given to posture and heavy landings are avoided by students being taught to use the ankles, knees and feet as shock absorbers in steps of elevation; hence the practice of performing plies at the beginning of each class. All the acrobatic exercises are set and performed to music so that it is in fact acrobatic dancing, with students working together as a team rather than competing with each other.
